We are saddened to learn of the passing of V. A. (“Del”) Kolve on November 5. Professor Kolve became a member of the Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies (now the CMRS Center for Early Global Studies) upon his arrival at UCLA in 1986. For many years he was an active participant in the Center’s programs and activities, serving on CMRS’s Faculty Advisory Committee and bringing his expertise to our conferences and other events. He will be sorely missed.
Viva Vox, a newsletter from the Center in years past, has an interview with Professor Kolve from 2002 that explores his inspiration and scholarship. An obituary is also available online as well as a remembrance from St. Edmund Hall at the University of Oxford where he was an Honorary Fellow.
