Conference Travel Grants
The CMRS Center for Early Global Studies offers funding in the form of travel reimbursement for UCLA graduate students to attend conferences, symposia, or professional meetings to present research or scholarly papers on any aspect of the period from the 3rd to the 17th century CE.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Please apply at least two weeks in advance of the travel departure date. Send the following materials to Professor Zrinka Stahuljak (CMRS-CEGS Director) at zs@humnet.ucla.edu:
- Letter of request describing the conference to be attended
- Name of the paper or project that will be presented
- Budget of travel expenses and/or registration fees for which reimbursement is requested (mileage over 250 miles cannot be reimbursed).
The maximum funding is $1,000. Students may submit only one Conference Travel Grant request per academic year (recipients may still apply for funding from either the Ahmanson Research & Study Grant or the Research & Study Travel Grants).
Once available funding for the fiscal year has been awarded, the application submission period will be closed.
Recipients of CMRS-CEGS Conference Travel Grants are expected to participate in Center activities, including attending CMRS-CEGS–sponsored events and taking part in a graduate-focused engagement event featuring presentations on their research and related professional experiences.
