Call for Donations to Endow a Research Award in Honor of Marie Kelleher (1970-2024)

Published: May 14, 2024

CMRS-CEGS is deeply saddened by the recent passing of Marie Kelleher who was a professor of Medieval History at Cal State Long Beach. Beginning in 2003, she taught courses in medieval history with a research interest in medieval Spain and the Mediterranean world, gender, and medieval law. She was also the recipient of numerous national grants and fellowships, and her book The Measure of Woman: Law and Female Identity in the Crown of Aragon was awarded the American Historical Association’s 2012 “Premio del Rey” for best book in early Iberian history.

The American Academy of Research Historians of Medieval Spain (AARHMS), of which Marie was a member, recently published a beautiful tribute to her life and work. They have also issued a Call for Donations to establish an endowment for an annual scholarly award in honor of Marie’s contributions as a teacher and researcher.

Your donations will be greatly appreciated.
