Tuesday, Feb 26, 2019 | 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM | Young Research Library Main Conference Room
Throughout their long and productive careers, Distinguished Research Professor Emeritus Richard Rouse and Mary Rouse (Richard’s partner in scholarship and in life) have worked steadily to build a world-class teaching collection of medieval and Renaissance manuscripts to be donated to UCLA Library Special Collections. They used the collection through many years of teaching paleography at UCLA to fortunate students who could work directly with the manuscripts in hand as “authentic witnesses” to the social, religious, and cultural history of Western Europe.
Please join us for a program of remarks by friends and colleagues of the Rouses to celebrate Richard and Mary and their latest gift of manuscripts to the UCLA Library. The program in the Main Conference Room will be followed by a reception in Library Special Collections and an opportunity to view highlights of their most recent gift to the library in the exhibit “Medieval Mastery: Manuscripts from the Richard and Mary Rouse Collection.”
Reception to follow program. Please RSVP by February 21. If you have questions or need further information, call 310-206-7532.
