This year’s annual Open House for the new school year was a great success. Thanks go to all the new and returning students, our faculty, associates from neighboring institutions, and the interested public who turned out to see what’s in store this year. It was a pleasure to welcome Professor Sharon Gerstel to her first CMRS Open House as the new Associate Director of CMRS. And we were flattered that Executive Vice Chancellor Scott Waugh and Dean of Humanities David Schaberg made time to visit with us!
In his remarks, Director Massimo Ciavolella reviewed the upcoming conferences and visiting scholars as well as the regular agenda of lectures and roundtables CMRS offers. And of course we ate and drank and caught up with everyone’s stories of their travels and projects since last year.
A highlight of the evening was the installation of the projects done by students from Dr. Kristina Markman’s class History 119D-Sex in the Middle Ages. “Inspirational Illuminations: Reacting to Medieval Manuscripts,” is an exhibit by the students based on their response to visiting the exhibit “Illuminating Women in the Medieval World,” at The J. Paul Getty Center. Click here to read more about this project.
