This past Spring, Assistant Professor Choon Hwee Koh (History) offered HIST 208A: History of Money through the CMRS-CEGS Research Seminar program. With support from CMRS-CEGS, Koh invited three leading scholars in monetary history to UCLA.
Their master classes explored late Roman monetary history with emphasis on archaeological data (Kim Bowes, University of Pennsylvania), global monetary history (Kuroda Akinobu, University of Tokyo), and the intellectual history of economic thought (Andrew Sartori, New York University).
The CMRS-CEGS Research Seminar program provides invaluable support for early-career faculty seeking to develop new skills and research specializations. Koh expressed profound gratitude to CMRS-CEGS for the opportunity to host these master classes and highly recommends the program to other UCLA faculty interested in exploring new fields.
