Chiappelli Memorial Fellowship
The Fredi Chiappelli Memorial Fellowship, named in honor of former CMRS director Fredi Chiappelli, is awarded to an outstanding UCLA graduate student whose research focuses on any aspect of Medieval and/or Renaissance Italian Studies. Applicants may be from any academic discipline. The fellowship provides a $20,000 stipend. Student tuition and fees are not included.
The Chiappelli Fellowship is offered periodically when the endowment that supports the fellowship has generated sufficient funding for the award. Check the CMRS website in November to see if the fellowship will be available for the coming academic year. The Chiappelli Memorial Fellowship will not be offered for 2019-20.

Students interested in applying for the fellowship must submit the following:
- A cover letter stating that he/she is applying for the Fredi Chiappelli Memorial Fellowship
- A current curriculum vitae (CV)
- A two-page description of the applicant’s research work in the area of medieval and/or Renaissance Italian studies
- Three current letters of recommendation. NOTE: One of these letters should be from the applicant’s dissertation director or faculty advisor
